University Grants Commission – Projects/ Schemes 

Maulana Azad National Urdu University, established a special cell for UGC Schemes in the month of July 2008. The function of the cell is to collect data, monitor UGC programmes and to correspond with UGC. Mr. Abrar Ahmad, Assistant Registrar & Secretary to Vice Chancellor was appointed as Coordinator for all XI Plan Schemes including XI Plan Merged Schemes of UGC.

            It is remarkable achievements of the University in the month of September 2008 under the able supervision and direction of Prof. A.M. Pathan, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MANUU, that out of 15 Major/Minor Research Projects submitted to University Grants Commission, 90 percent of the them were accepted and sanctioned financial assistance.

            University Grants Commission notified, asking for Research Proposals submission for financial assistance in the month of January 2009, in response 16 Research Proposals (Major-10 and Minor-6) were submitted to UGC. The screening committee of UGC accepted almost all the proposals, and called them for the final presentation in the Month of February 2009 at UGC New Delhi. The University has been awarded twelve Major/Minor Research projects, out of 16 Proposals submitted to University Grants Commission, in the month of  March 2009.

            For the following research projects, under study, 100 percent financial assistance has been sanctioned by UGC.

Here is rapid increase in the number of projects sanctioned to the university. During X plan only 2 projects were sanctioned while XI plan got 25 projects sanctioned in its very initial period.

University Grants Commission has sanctioned Rs. 53.50 lakh to the Department of Education & Training at the level of DRS-I for 5 years 01.04.2009 to 31.03.2014 under the Special Assistance Programme (SAP) in the Department of Education & Training with the thrust area for research and teaching “Urdu Medium Education- Expectations and Challenges in the context of Globalization”.

During the month of January/February University has submitted two proposals to UGC for financial assistance (i) Teaching and Research in Interdisciplinary Innovative and Emerging areas entitled Advance Diploma in English Study Skills (ii) Diploma in Journalistic Translation under Career Oriented Courses in the University.

Apart from above as per XI plan UGC guidelines, Day Care Centre has been established in the University and inaugurated on 24.03.2009, to help the working parents in pursuing their job and /or academic career, for children of teachers / University’s employees upto six years of age. It would also includes male employees/scholars/students also whose spouses are working elsewhere.
