About the University:
The
Maulana
Azad
National
Urdu
University has been
established in 1998 by an Act of the
Parliament as a
Central
University at
Hyderabad
as Headquarters with an All-India
jurisdiction. It is one of the 20
Central Universities. The mandate of
the University is to promote and
develop the Urdu language, provide
higher, vocational and technical
education in the Urdu medium and
focus on women’s education. The
University is empowered to offer
education through both the campus
and distance modes of education. The
University is offering
undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma
and certificate programmes in
distance mode from 1998 and today
has a student strength of nearly
65,000 students enrolled in over 120
study centres spread all over the
country. Eight Post-graduate
programmes are on offer in campus
mode.
The campus is located in 200 acres of prime land in Gachibowli. The
University has 8

Sub-Regional
Centers and
Three
Constituent
Colleges
of Teacher Education at present.

Establishment:
The
University Grants Commission has
sanctioned a
UGC
Academic
Staff
College to
Maulana
Azad
National
Urdu
University
in January 2007. The College was
inaugurated by Prof. Moolchand
Sharma,
Vice-Chairperson, University
Grants Commission on
24th March 2007
. The college initiated its activity
by organizing Orientation course
from same day.
