DR. K.R. IQBAL AHMED
Pro-Vice Chancellor 

Dr. K.R. Iqbal Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor, MANUU holds a doctorate in History from the Karnataka University, Dharwad. He joined this University as Director, DDE in 2004. Before assuming charge as Pro-Vice Chancellor in December 2004, Dr. Ahmed also held the posts of Controller of Examinations and Registrar. He is also designated as the Public Information Officer o the University under the RTI- Act.

Dr. Ahmed brings with him a rich and varied experience in academic, administrative, literary and cultural activities spanning over three decades. A noted literary figure in Kannada and Urdu literature, Dr. Iqbal Ahmed has to his credit 14 valuable books and a number of research papers published in reputed journals on myriad of subjects ranging from History, Journalism and Urdu literature to Open Distance Learning. His most significant contribution to Urdu literature is his translation of the poetry of Ghalib and Iqbal into Kannada language. He has been conferred with a number of prestigious awards including the Kannada Sarathy award and the Kempe Gowda award for his contribution in the field of education.

Dr. Iqbal is a multifaceted personality with tremendous zeal and quest for innovation and invention in the field of Open Distance Learning. His vision and leadership has resulted in the DDE, MANUU emerging as a prominent destination for seekers of education in the distance-learning mode.

Apart from being a member on the governing bodies of many states and national level institutions including the Central Board of Film Certification (BRC), Dr. Iqbal has also served as the elected member of the Academic Council and Senate of the Bangalore University for more than 13 years and was also the member of Executive Council of Kannada University, Hampi. He is currently the member of the Academic Council and the Executive Council of MANUU.
