Established in: March, 2008 Studies in Persian Language & Literature As a state language, the Persian has ruled the Indian subcontinent for more than six centuries in medieval era, and caused to origin and development of Urdu language; more than 70% of Urdu Vocabulary is Persian. Keeping this background in view, Department of Persian, MANUU, aims to strengthen the linguistic, Cultural and literary relation and mutual influences of Urdu and Persian; and to promote Comparative Researches and Critical studies in Persian.
Scope in India Persian is language of Indian History and Culture. If we wish to know our past we have to study histories written in Persian. There is a profound treasure of Persian Manuscripts and Archival Records preserved in National and State archives and Museums; which are being studied, but still there is a vast scope of researches in this field to promote our culture and society.
International Value Apart from this cultural importance for India, Persian has an international value as well, as it is one of the most important languages of the present world. It is prevalent in Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, Khuzestan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and most of the West Asian countries, after learning Spoken Persian our scholars can be offered great opportunities in these countries

Syllabus In preparation of the syllabi, it is keenly observed that the students along with the Persian literature, should get knowledge of spoken and written Persian and they would be well- acquainted with the skills of translation and understanding the Persian Manuscripts.
