NAAC “A” grade for MANUU
Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University has been awarded
“A” grade by UGC’s Autonomous National Assessment & Accreditation
Council (NAAC). To celebrate the rare achievement a meeting of staff
was held today at CPDUMT Auditorium. Speakers showered high praise
over the dynamic leadership of Prof. A M Pathan the Vice-Chancellor.
6 years ago when Prof. Pathan took over as a second Vice-Chancellor
of MANUU there was rarely any campus based course and different
sections questioned the viability and feasibility of providing
higher education through urdu medium. However, Prof. Pathan through
his dedicated leadership proved all the critics wrong and not only
developed a beautiful campus but also weaved a magical network of
higher learning which resulted in getting NAAC’s ‘A’ Grade. This is
by no means a mean achievement especially for any urdu education
institution.
The
process of submitting for NAAC Accreditation started at Maulana Azad
National Urdu University in September 2008. A Steering Committee was
setup to work for the pre-paration of the self study report. The
Steering Committee started work on the SSR in earnest in October
2008. The following activities were put into action. Two workshops
were held. Dept. of Studies and different sections/centres were
approached for information and self evaluative reports. One
important activity that has been started at MANUU is the evaluation
by the students. MANUU Submitted its letter of interest to NAAC
expressing its readiness for the visit of the NAAC PEER Team to face
evaluation on Feb 26, 27 and 28 2009. The concerted efforts of each
and every functionary of the University resulted in MANUU being
awarded ‘A’ grade. The peer team was given a detailed presentation
of the University and its different components. The team
meticulously examined the working of the University in the light of
the SSR. The peer team met teachers, students and non-teaching staff
in detail. A cultural programme was organized on the evening of 27th
Feb. the award of ‘A’ grade for NAAC is truly an achievement for
MANUU. This achievement has been possible because of the positive
contribution of all persons associated with working of the
institution in one capacity or the other.
