ACADEMICS – 2008-09

 

The University has made remarkable progress in Academic Activities. The University has six Schools of Studies and 15 Departments. The University is offering Ph.D., M.Phil and Post-Graduate courses in various subjects along with Diploma, P.G. Diploma, Teacher’s Training, ITI and Polytechnic Courses on campus.  Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnic Colleges at Darbhanga, Bangalore and Hyderabad have been established.

 

       The University initiated welfare measures for the students pursuing Postgraduate Courses with the sanction of a scholarship of Rs. 1000/- per month.  A fellowship of Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 5000/- is provided to the scholars of M. Phil and Ph. D Scholars respectively.  For the students who want to earn while they lean, a scheme namely “Earn While You Learn” has been introduced.  Hostel for Boys and Girls and Health centre has already been provided in the Campus.

 

       The responsibility of the Academic Section includes varied activities apart from submission of Academic proposals for grants and assistance to the Ministry of Human Resource Development  and the University Grants Commission; coordinating the designing of curriculum and its revision; conduct of Academic Council meetings; Constitution of School Boards, Boards of Studies of all the Departments; and preparation of Academic Calendar.   Mr. P. S. Munawar Hussain, Deputy Registrar is Head of the Academic Section. Mr. Abdul Rasheed Shaik, Assistant Registrar coordinates in discharge of the responsibilities of Academic Section.

2.

M.A. Translation

Graduate from a recognized University with at least 45% of marks in aggregate. Should be well versed in English and Urdu. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation. 

3.

M.A. Women Education

Graduate from a recognized University with at least 45% of marks in aggregate. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation. 

3.

M.A. Public Administratiion

Graduate from a recognized University with at least 45% of marks in aggregate. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation. Preference will be given to the candidates who have studied Public Administration or Political Science as a subject in graduation.

M.A.

(Mass Communication & Journalism)

Graduate from any recognized University with at least 45% marks in aggregate. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation. Admission through merit obtained in entrance test.

M.B.A

Graduate from any recognized University with at least 45% marks in aggregate. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation.  Admission through entrance test.

Masters Degree from any recognized University with at least 55% marks in aggregate in the concerned or allied subject. A candidate who has qualified JRF / NET or SLET will be exempted from entrance test. However, they can appear for the entrance test to score more number of marks.

(1) Masters Degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks in the concerned or allied subject, with any of the following:-

i) M. Phil in the concerned subject

ii) JRF / NET/SLET

iii) Two research articles published in a refereed research journal, or

v) Teaching experience of not less than three years in any Degree College

(2) Those candidates who have been working in a recognized University and have studied Master’s Degree prior to 1991 and secured 50% of marks in the concerned subject. Admissions are based on merit obtained in entrance test.

Entrance Test will be conducted at the University Headquarters. Candidate who has qualified in JRF/ NET or SLET will be exempted from the Entrance Test. 40% weightage in marks will be given to those candidates. However, they can secure more marks by appearing in the entrance test.

Master of Education

A candidate who has passed B. Ed. with at least 55% marks from any recognized university. Relaxation up to 5% marks is extended to S.C., S.T. candidates. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation. Admission through entrance test.

9. 

Bachelor of Education

Graduate from any recognized University, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Sc, home science B.C.A.(with mathematics in +2) BBM from any recognized University having secured 45% marks in aggregate in part B i.e., optional subjects. Admission is through entrance test. Relaxation up to 5% marks is extended to S.C., S.T. candidates. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation. Admission through entrance test.

10.

P.G. Diploma in Information Technology

Graduate from any recognized University having 50% marks in aggregate. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation.

11.

Diploma in Education

Intermediate (10+2) from a recognized Board with 50% in aggregate. Relaxation up to 5% marks is extended to S.C., S.T. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/ intermediate (10+2) or in graduation. Admission through entrance test

PG Diploma in functional Urdu

(Part-time)

Graduate from any recognized University with at least 45% marks in aggregate. The candidate should have studied Urdu at school/intermediate(10+2) or in graduation. Admission through entrance test.

Meetings of the Academic Council:  During the period between 1st April, 2008 to 31st March, 2009 two Academic Council meetings were held as detailed below:

Convocation

                The third Convocation of the University was held on 21st February, 2009 in a befitting manner at Marriott Hotel Convention Centre, Hyderabad. Chief Guest Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, Chairman University Grants Commission delivered the convocation address. Dr. Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, Hon’ble Chancellor of MANUU presided over the convocation. Honoris Causa D. Litt. Degree was conferred on thespian actor Dilip Kumar (in Absentia), Dr. Abid Hussain, Former Ambassador of India to America, Prof. Gopi Chand Narang and well known novelist Jeelani Bano. 27 students were awarded, 43 gold medals in different disciplines. Over 6,000 graduates, post graduates and M. Phil. Scholars were also awarded the Degree. Prof. Thorat in his convocation address complimented Prof. Pathan and his team for rapid development of MANUU. Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. M. Pathan in his welcome speech informed the gathering that MANUU is among the four Universities selected to establish All India Civil Services Coaching Centre for Minorities. Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Syeda Saiyidain Hameed distributed Gold Medal to the toppers in different disciplines. 

Grant of Equivalence to Certificates of Other Institutions:

The University grants equivalence to various programmes of study of other Institutions and Universities. The Certificates recognized by Universities / Govt. boards and State & Central Ministries are granted recognition by the University as equivalent there to.

In case fresh proposal is received by the University for grant of equivalency it is referred to experts to evaluate the contents of syllabi and scheme of examination, to find out its standard expected from that particular programme for which equivalency is sought. The syllabi and the scheme of examination along with the opinion of experts is placed in the Academic Council for examination and recommendations.

M. Phil and Ph. D. fellowships:

Consequent to the introduction of the M. Phil and Ph. D programmes, the University has been sanctioning fellowships as per UGC norms to the M. Phil and Ph. D scholars as detailed below:

M. Phil -           @ Rs. 3000/-p.m.         

Ph. D   -           @ Rs. 5000/- p.m.

Earn While You Learn Scheme:

 Consequent to the approval of the Executive Council, the Earn While You Learn scheme was introduced for enabling the campus students to earn while pursuing their course curriculum. The scheme became very popular as students from various departments responded positively and helped in the completion of works of various Departments from time to time. These students are paid remuneration of Rs. 25/- per hour. The scheme is under continuation.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The University provides Merit-cum-Means Freeship or Half-Freeship to 20% and 40% of the students respectively based on merit as well as economic status of the students. A Scholarship of Rs.1000/- per month for students has been implemented from the academic year 2008-09.  A student can avail any one of the scholarships in an academic year. 

HOSTEL FACILITY

Boys Hostel Building was constructed in the Campus. A separate hostel for girls was also constructed and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Syeda Saiyidain Hameed on 21st October, 2008. Hostel facilities would be provided to the needy students subject to availability. Further, additions of hostel facilities are in progress in professional as well as non-professional courses.

CAMPUS PLACEMENT:

The University has established Campus placement centre for the benefit of the students who roll out of this University.  The campus placement centre invites various Companies in the corporate sector to conduct campus recruitment.
