Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the degree awarded by this University recognised by other institutions for higher studies?
Ans. Yes, it is. The Maulana Azad National Urdu University is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1998 with an All-India jurisdiction. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). All degrees / certificates awarded by this University are recognised for admission in all Universities of India.

2. Who is eligible for direct admission? 
Ans. All persons who have completed their 10 + 2 / Intermediate from a recognised Board of the State / Central government can apply directly for admission to the Degree programme without appearing for the eligibility test. Apart from this, all candidates who hold Alim / Fazil degree from the list of recognised institutions printed in this prospectus are also eligible for direct admission.

3. Who should appear for the Eligibility Test? 
Ans. The Eligibility test is meant for those candidates who are desirous of applying for the degree programme of the University but have not completed their 10 + 2. This includes those who have studied only up to 10th class, or have not studied at all. Apart from these, all candidates who hold a certificate from any institution, other than those specified above will have to appear for the eligibility test. If they qualify in this, they will have to submit the application form and the fees for the degree course. 
Please note that there are two forms attached with this prospectus. Students appearing for the Eligibility Test must first submit the concerned form and on qualification they should submit the second form. Appearance at Eligibility Test does not qualify a candidate for admission to the degree programme of the University.

4. What is the period of enrolment for a course of study? 
Ans. A student, once granted admission, is enrolled for a period of nine years in case of the three-year degree course. This means that he / she will have to complete the course in this period. In case of Certificate courses, the period of enrolment is three years.

5. Can I enrol for two degree programmes simultaneously in the University? 
Ans. No. This is not permitted, as per the UGC guidelines. However, a candidate may be enrolled in a degree and a Certificate programme of this University. In such case, the University will not be responsible if there is a clash in the dates of counselling or examinations of these courses.

6. I have not received my hall ticket. What do I do? 
Ans. You may reach the exam hall with a copy of your passport size photograph. Your candidature will be verified on the basis of the duplicate hall ticket after which you will be allowed for the examination.

7. Is the Foundation Course compulsory and common for B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. Students? 
Ans. The Foundation Course is common to all students who take admission to the degree programme through eligibility test only, i.e.. those students who have not completed their 10+2 or intermediate. It is a compulsory course and no relaxation is permitted under any circumstances.

8. Can I choose my Study Centre? 
Ans. Yes. You will have to clearly mention the name of Study Centre in your Application Form for Admission after seeing the list of Study Centres provided with the prospectus. In case the candidate does not do so, the University will allot the Study Centre keeping in mind the students region of residence.

9. Does the University hold supplementary exams? 
Ans. No. The University does not hold any supplementary exams. Exams are held only once a year for all the courses.

10. Is there any extended last date for submitting applications with late fees? 
Ans. No. There is no extended last date for submission of application forms. No late fee is charged. Candidates must ensure that their applications reach the University within the prescribed date. Please take care that your application is complete in all respects. Incomplete, illegible forms or those received after the last date shall be summarily rejected and the fees shall not be refunded. The University shall entertain no correspondence in this regard.

11. Is counselling held for all the subjects offered for study in all the Study Centres? 
Ans. The University arranges for conduction of counselling classes for any subject when there is a minimum of 20 students enrolled in that subject at a study centre for that year. If the number is below 20 for a subject in a study centre, then counselling will not be arranged for that subject. Also, in cases where there are 20 or more students enrolled in Study Centre but the attendance at counselling is below 10 for three consecutive counselling sessions, the University reserves the right to cancel counselling at that Study Centre.

12. Is attendance for the Counselling Classes compulsory? 
Ans. Attendance at the counselling sessions is not compulsory. However, the students are advised to attend the same in their best interests so that they can approach their counsellor with their doubts and benefit from the clarifications.

13. I have not received the I – card / The I – Card sent is not mine / The I – Ans. Card has my name but the photograph is not mine. What do I do? 
In case the I- Card has not been received, the student is advised to send a postage stamp size photograph along with a D.D. of Rs. 10/- and a requisition for issue of duplicate I card to the Director Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad national Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032. A duplicate shall be despatched to him / her by post. In cases where the name or photograph are incorrect, the candidate may return the I – Card in original with a letter marking the correction of name / photograph or other particulars. The University shall verify these facts as per records and return the corrected I – card to the student by post.

14. I have not received my books / I have received an incomplete set of books. What do I do? 
Ans. In case the study material has not been received, the candidate is required to check with the post office. The University is not responsible for postal loss or delay. The candidate will have to inform the Director Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032 in writing by giving details of enrolment number, course and the books required. He / she will be intimated about the amount to be paid and a duplicate set of books / book will be despatched on receipt of a DD of the required amount.

15. The books sent to me are of a subject that I had not opted for. What do I do? 
Ans. The books received by you should be returned along with an application for request of the required set. The University shall verify the same from its records and despatch the same by post.

16. Are the Assignments Compulsory? 
Ans. Yes. The Assignments are compulsory part of your evaluation. There are three assignments per subject and all are compulsory. They have to be submitted within the due dates indicated. Non-submission of even one will lead to your being failed in the subject concerned.

17. I have not received my assignments. What do I do? 
Ans. You are required to write to the Controller of Examinations, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032 giving your enrolment number, course and optional subjects and requesting for an assignment booklet. The same shall be despatched to you by post.

18. The assignment sent is not of the course I had opted for. What do I do? 
Ans. You are required to write to the Controller of Examinations, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032 returning the assignment booklet and giving your enrolment number, course and optional subjects with your request. The University shall despatch the same by post after verifying its records.

19. I have submitted my assignments but the marks have not been entered in my marks – memo. What do I do? 
Ans. You will have to contact the Coordinator of your Study Centre informing him of this. In case of students for whom counselling has not been arranged and they are required to submit their assignments directly to the course coordinator, they may write to the Controller of Examinations, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032 by enclosing a copy of the receipt of the assignments and a copy of your marks sheet. The University will verify from its records and inform accordingly.

20. Can I change my course of study? 
Ans. Yes you can. But this is allowed only once in your period of enrolment and has to be done within a month of the starting of counselling classes on the submission of a written request addressed to the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad national Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032.

21. Can I change my study centre? 
Ans. Yes. You may do so but please note that such change is allowed only once in a year on the submission of a written request addressed to the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad national Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032.

22. Can I change my exam centre? 
Ans. Yes, you can. But the requisition for this will have to be submitted along with the examination form.

23. Does the University issue a Transfer Certificate? 
Ans. No. The University does not issue Transfer Certificate.

24. I have not received my marks memo for the year ending exam. What do I do? 
Ans. You will have to write to the Controller of Examinations, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032 requesting for copy of the same.

25. How do I apply for a consolidated marks memo? 
Ans. The University shall issue the Provisional Certificate / Consolidated Marks Memo to those candidates who have successful completed all three years of study.

26. How can I receive my Bonafide and Migration Certificate? 
Ans. The Bonafide and Migration Certificate will be issued on request of the candidate in writing. He will have to enclose a Demand Draft for Rs. 60/-, along with a copy of his Provisional Certificate to Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad national Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032.

27. The optionals allotted are not those that I had chosen. What do I do? 
Ans. You may write to Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad national Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032 informing of the same. The University will verify from its records and inform accordingly.

28. The course of study allotted to me is not what I had chosen. What do I do? 
Ans. You may write to Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad national Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad – 500 032 informing of the same. The University will verify from its records and inform accordingly.
