Current Activities:

  • Dastkari Mela
  • Dastkari Mela-Art and craft Exhibition cum sale by Women Entrepreneurs, was organized by Centre for Women’s Studies, Maulana Azad National Urdu University on 09-11-2015 .This craft exhibition is a part of Azad Week Celebrations-2015, which comprises of different events in and out of the campus. The main objective of this Dastkari Mela was to promote the entrepreneurship and economic empowerment of Women and to provide a platform for home based women workers and women organizations to built a rapport among them and showcase their craft items for sale.

  • Extension Lecture
  •  An extension lecture was organised by Centre for Women’s Studies on the topic “Violence against Women” on 16 .1.2015 at Lecture hall Complex, MANUU Lecture Hall Complex.
    Ms. Humaira Ahmed, Rtd. Chief Postmaster General (Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal), Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Govt. Of India and Director Dept. of Culture, Govt. Of India was the Resource person. In her address she said that violence against women can be prevented by the change in the mindset of the human beings at social level and this can be nurtured in Educational Institutions.

  •  Colloquium in Collaboration with National Commission for Women

 CWS organised a colloquium on 24.3.2015 with the collaboration of National Commission for Women (NCW) New Delhi on the topic “Mainstreaming the Indian Muslim Women – The Way Forward” at Central library, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
Prof. Fatima Ali Khan, (Department of Geography (OU) and member ICSSR) Presided over the programme. Ms. Lalitha Kumaramangalam, Chairperson National Commission for women, participated as Chief Guest on the occasion. Ms. Shamina Shafique, Member, NCW was also present on this occasion, Muslim Women, Academicians, NGO, Representatives & Research Scholars Participated in deliberation

  • International Women’s Day- 2015 Celebration

Literary and Cultural Competitions
               CWS organised different programmes and competitions in connection with International Women’s Day-2015. Such as Essay writing competitions, Poster making and Slogan Writing on the topic “Protection of Women – A social responsibility”. Students and Scholars of the University took part in these competitions.

  • Poster Exhibition

A Poster Exhibition Entitled “Protection of Women – A Social Responsibility” was organised on 10.3.2015. at Central Library, MANUU. The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Khaja M. Shahid, Pro Vice Chancellor, MANUU, Prof. S. M. Rahmatullah, Registrar I/c, MANUU & Justice Basha Nawaz Khan, Special Metropolitan Magistrate, Criminal Court, Hyderabad, accompanied on this occasion.

  • Panel Discussion

A Panel Discussion was organized by CWS on 10.3.2015 at Central Library Auditorium, MANUU. The theme of the discussion was “Safety of Women in India – Issues & Solutions”. The Panel included Dr. Mohd. Fahim Akhtar, HOD, Islamic Studies, MANUU, Justice Basha Nawaz Khan, Special Metropolitan Magistrate, Criminal Court, Hyderabad, Ms. Rema Rajeshwari, DCP Malkajgiri, Head SHE Team, Hyderabad,  Prof. S.M. Rahmatullah, In-charge Registrar and Dean SA&SS, MANUU, Dr. Shahida, HOD, Women Education, MANUU and Ms. Zehra Begum, Advocate Criminal Court, Hyderabad.

  • Cultural Programme

A Cultural programme was organized by CWS at DDE Auditorium on the topic “Ek Shaam Azmat-e-Niswan ke Naam” Dr. Audhesh Rani, Member, NCERT, Delhi was the Chief Guest of this programme and Prof. H. Khatija Begum, HOD, Education & Training and Dean, School of Education and Training presided over the programme . Students of MANUU presented different literary and Cultural activities on this occasion. 

  •  Health Awareness Programme 

A health awareness programme was conducted by CWS on the topic “The Impact of Stress on Women’s Health-Issues & Solution” on 24.04.2015 at Girls Hostel MANUU, Ms. Najma, Counsellor, MANUU was the Resource Person. She explained in detail about the impact of stress on women’s health and expressed various methods to cope up with stress.
